Alex and Christina's honey moon
Russia - Siberia - The Altay
24th August 2004 to 12th
September 2004
Days 7:
We took our tents down, as soon as the rain allowed, to return to the ranger
station near the Middle Mul’tinskoe Lake. Tatiana went ahead and hired the
rangers’ horses to help us carry the bags and tents back. That was how they had
been brought on our way out, but for some reason, there had been no arrangement
made to bring them back again, so we had to pay more money. Rebecca rode on a
horse again on the way back.
This was a
rest day for us and it was also Rebecca’s birthday. Alexei and one of the
rangers rode the 30km in each direction to the nearest town to buy fizzy pear
flavoured drink, chocolates, birthday cake and something for the adults.
In
Alexei’s absence Tatiana had the task of cooking the meal for us. As she went to
chop the vegetables, we joked that she should be careful with the knife. Moments
later, she had cut her finger and needed another dressing.

That night
we stayed in the ranger’s log cabin with the wood burning stove again.
